This Board Game Life Episode #005 – A Board Gamer’s Dozen

In this episode Jeff starts out with a recommendation for an even better set of painted War of the Ring Strongholds. Rob continues his on the road report on game stores in the Atlanta area and Jeff talks about a couple iOS/PC conversions that excite him. Rob talks to the ever increasing number of Ascension expansions and finally Jeff introduces a new recurring segment, A Board Gamer’s Dozen (TM), wherein 13 new and old games are compared to one another and rated on a scale of 1 to 10. Not quite a review and yet not quite not a review, what he dislikes and likes about each title is sure to stir some controversy. Games discussed include 20th Century, Alba Longa, Cave Evil, City Tycoon, Heroes of Graxia, Hive, Last Will, LCR, Power Grid: First Sparks, Sun Sea & Sand, Tigris & Euphrates, Ventura, and A Victory Lost.

This Board Game Life Episode #004 – ST Fleet Captains, Hawaii, and Castelli

In this episode Jeff begins by detailing 10 things he doesn’t like and 10 things he does about Star Trek: Fleet Captains. Rob and Jeff continue with a discussion on Rio Grande’s Hawaii followed by Jeff’s comments on Castelli from Queen Games. Rob and Jeff then get into a detailed discussion on the strategies in Kosmos’s Dragonheart followed by Rob’s thoughts on Z-Man’s Onirim. Finishing up the episode, the hosts discuss the pros and cons of all things relating to boardgame promos.

This Board Game Life Episode #003 – Principato, Santiago De Cuba, and Dungeon Run

In this episode, Jeff starts out with some comments on recent games he has been playing including Kingdom Builder, Quarriors, Qwirkle and Walnut Grove. Rob and Jeff go on to discuss Principato and Santiago De Cuba at length. Rounding out Jeff’s recently played games is a discussion on Dungeon Run which leads into a larger discussion on Descent and Dungeon Crawlers in general. Rob covers some games he has been playing including Santiago De Cuba, Sobek, and Ascension Storm of Souls. The hosts then round out the episode with a discussion on Zev’s appearance on TV, that whole Ascension Marriage thing, and Friedemann Friese’s admission to “theft”.
